About Dr. Dave
 I
had grown up with chiropractic care and a more natural understanding of
health, but it wasn't until 7th form at Viard College (Wellington) that
I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.
I left the country in
1993, at age 17, to study chiropractic at the Royal Melbourne Institute
of Technology. At the same time a NZ chiropractic course was being
developed. So in 1994 I decided to switch over to this course. I
received my Pre-Graduate Diploma in Chiropractic Science (NZ School of
Chiropractic) and my Bachelor of Science (University of Auckland) in
1997. I received my Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) in 1998 and in
1999 I started working as a chiropractor in the beautiful city of
Wanganui.
In my last years of study I led a randomised
controlled trial which used a mental rotation paradigm to study the
effects of upper cervical adjustments on reaction time. A positive
outcome from this was the publication of this research in the Journal
of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (2000). That year I was
awarded the Liz Mackay Award (for top NZ chiropractic researcher).
In
2001 I went on my big OE, travelling through North and South America,
Middle East, Europe and South-East Asia and worked as a chiropractor in
and around Dublin, Ireland. Upon returning to NZ after a couple of
years, I worked as a locum chiropractor in Australia and NZ and set-up
the new practice, Kelly Chiropractic Limited, with my Dad, Brian.
My number one passion is spending time with my family, my wife Tessa and our baby Frances.
