Workplace Spinal Health Workshop

"The Dream of a Healer"

Sit up straight, Shoulders back

How often as parents do we notice our children's poor posture? How often do we notice our own posture? As our posture is something that develops over a lifetime, poor posture can go unnoticed. However, there is strong evidence that poor posture is associated with poor health.

If the bones of the spine stop functioning properly or become misaligned, this leads to a deterioration of posture. This can also affect the delicate spinal nerves that communicate information between your brain and your body, leading to poorer health. For decades Chiropractors have used posture as a tool to evaluate the spine. In people with long-term poor posture, degeneration of the spine can occur, which potentially causes more serious health problems.

Simple posture checks you can do

There are some simple checks you can do for any member of your family. Find someone to check, ask them to stand as straight as they can, stand behind them and observe whether both ears are the same height. Now look at their shoulders. If there is an obvious difference in height, there is a good chance that their spine inside is not sitting straight, which means it is likely they have vertebral misalignments. This is a definite indicator to get their spine checked by a chiropractor.
